How She Empowers Others

Caroline Aaron, known to film, television, and theatre audiences has worked repeatedly with great directors such as Woody Allen, Mike Nichols, Robert Altman, Nora Ephron, Paul Mazursky, Don Roos, and many others who keep her in demand.

Caroline made her Broadway debut in Robert Altman’s “Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean” and later appeared in the film. The following season, on Broadway, she starred in the Jose Quintero/Jason Robards’ revival of “The Iceman Cometh”. She next starred in Mike Nichols’s Broadway smash comedy “Social Security”.   Mr. Nichols first directed her on film in “Heartburn” opposite Meryl Streep.   She reteamed with him for “Working Girl”, “Primary Colors”, and most recently “What Planet Are You From?” She returned to Broadway starring in “I Hate Hamlet.”

Film audiences perhaps best know Ms. Aaron as Woody Allen’s sister in “Crimes and Misdemeanors”.  She also worked with Woody Allen in “Alice”, “Bullets Over Broadway”, “Husbands and Wives”, and once again played his sister in “Deconstructing Harry”.

Her repeat work for top directors includes working again with Robert Altman on “O.C. & Stiggs”, as well as with Nora Ephron on “Sleepless in Seattle”, “This Is My Life”, “Lucky Numbers”, and most recently starring at The Geffen Theatre in Ms. Ephron’s comedy hit “Love, Loss, and What She Wore.”

Caroline starred in Kevin Spacey’s film “Beyond the Sea”, the biography of Bobby Darin. Other recent credits include “Just Like Heaven”, “Nancy Drew”, “Surveillance”, “Love Comes Lately”, “Love Hurts” and the soon to be released “Finding Bliss”

Audiences also know Ms. Aaron from Tim Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands, Wayne Wang’s “Anywhere But Here”, Stanley Tucci’s “The Big Night”, Julie Davis’s “Amy’s Orgasm” and Don Roos’ “Bounce” and “Call Waiting.”  For her role in “Bounce” she was honored with a Blockbuster Award nomination as best supporting actress.

On television Caroline has guest starred on “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Private Practice”, all the “CSI’s” “Brothers and Sisters”, “Shark”, “Sex and The City”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, and,” Six Feet Under”, among many others.  Favorite work in television movies includes starring in “Tuesdays With Morrie”, “Revenge of The Middle-Aged Woman, and “An American Daughter” Most recently Caroline is recurring as JoJo the bounty hunter on “The Young and The Restless.”  But working in films and on television has not sidetracked her from her love of the stage.  She headlined the west coast premiere of Wendy Wasserstien’s “The Sisters Rosensweig” at The Mark Taper Forum and was acknowledged by the theatre community with both a Helen Hayes and Dramalogue Award.  An Ovation Award nomination and another Dramalogue Award also honored her for her work in the stage version of “Call Waiting.” 

This fall she will star opposite Marilu Henner in “The Tale of The Allergists Wife” at The La Mirada Performing Arts Center. 

She is a published author included in the anthology book of parenting stories, “Afterbirth.”

She lives in Los Angeles with her husband James Foreman and their two children Ben and Sydney.
