How She Empowers Others

LaVern is a Christian wife and mother of four boys. She is employed by Clear Channel Communications and has worked as a Nashville Traffic reporter since 1984. A graduate of David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, LaVern also attended Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee.

She teaches Broadcast Communications at Goodpasture Christian School and has served as an adjunct professor at David Lipscomb University.

LaVern is a speaker and entrepreneur in direct sales, publishing and marketing facilitated through her website She has many written works including the Children’s series, The Po-Billy Boys, and inspirational work, Don’t Forget the Daffodils.

LaVern stays busy with her husband Mark of 21 years and their four teenage sons but continues to pursue her hobbies with product design, interior design and construction. 

She is a teacher at the Madison Church of Christ and has served on mission teams to Hurricane Katrina relief in New Orleans and has spent three years as a team leader to Nashville Workcamp, a project to renovate homes in Nashville’s Inner City.
