Lee Woodruff is a freelance writer and public relations executive. She and her husband, Bob Woodruff are the authors of In an Instant: A Family’s Journey of Love and Healing, The New York Times best-selling book about their family’s difficult journey during Bob’s critical injury in Iraq while anchoring a broadcast for ABC News. A frank and compelling account of how their lives came together, were blown apart, and then were miraculously put together again, In an Instant shares how they persevered with grit, but also with humor, through intense trauma and fear. Woodruff and Bob have also established the Bob Woodruff Family Fund for Traumatic Brain Injury to raise money to assist members of the military with cognitive rehabilitation and other care needs following traumatic brain injury suffered in service to their country.
Woodruff recently joined ABC’s Good Morning America as a family and life contributor. Currently, she is also a contributing editor of Family Fun magazine, where she writes about health and travel and serves as a Family Fun spokesperson, appearing on national and regional broadcasts about various topics on behalf of the magazine.
As a freelance writer, Woodruff has written numerous corporate materials and her articles have appeared in Health, Redbook, Country Living, and Family Fun. Over the years, she has written articles with a personal slant about family life and the often humorous and poignant moments of being a parent.
Woodruff is currently working on her second book of nonfiction for Random House, a wry and witty exploration into motherhood, family, and the complications of husband/wife dynamics.
In her work as a public relations executive, she has over 20 years experience in marketing and PR, including her work with international cosmetic company Benefit Cosmetics and Built NY, a line of home products. Since opening her own business in 1991, she has handled a wide variety of clients, ranging from the healthcare and travel industries to the electronics to accessories markets.
