"It's all about change. It's what
we're here to do."
Mimi Silbert is the founder and president of the Delancey Street Foundation. With five national centers, Delancey Street provides a structured educational and living environment in which men and women, most of whom are ex-felons and substance abusers, learn the skills they need to rebuild their lives. At no cost to the client or taxpayers, the foundation provides residents with academic, vocational and social skills, and the discipline, values and attitudes they need to live in society legitimately. In 30 years, the foundation has graduated over 14,000 people from America’s underclass into society as successful citizens leading productive lives.
