Peter Gallagher has delivered critically acclaimed performances in film, television and theater. He has just completed Betty Ann Waters with Hilary Swank and Burlesque with Cher. Gallagher has starred in over 50 films, including: sex, lies and videotape, American Beauty (SAG Award), The Player, Short Cuts (Golden Globe), The Idolmaker, While You Were Sleeping, The Underneath, To Gillian on her 37th Birthday, Center Stage, Mr. Deeds, Dreamchild and Adam. His theater credits include award winning Broadway productions of Guys and Dolls, Long Days Journey Into Night (with Jack Lemmon, receiving a Tony Award Nomination), The Real Thing (Clarence Derwent Award), The Corn Is Green (Theatre World Award), Noises Off and The Country Girl. He has worked with some of film and theater’s most respected directors including Mike Nichols, Robert Altman, Steven Soderbergh, Sam Mendes, Nicholas Hytner, and Jonathan Miller and Hal Prince.
As a singer, Gallagher has recorded 7 Days in Memphis, Pal Joey, Guys and Dolls and continues to perform live.
On television, Gallagher will be seen on this season’s Rescue Me and is currently filming the first season of USA’s new show Covert Affairs which begins this summer. He was Dean Koons on Californication last season and Sandy Cohen prior to that on The OC.
Gallagher’s mother lived with Alzheimer’s Disease for nearly 20 years. In addition to serving on the National Advisory Council of The Alzheimer’s Association he is also presently the co-chair of the National Board of Advisors for the Actor’s Fund.
