In addition to providing clean, reliable power, we strive to be a leading corporate citizen in the diverse communities we serve throughout California.

How WE Empower Others

Pacific Gas & Electric Company is one  of the largest combined natural gas and electric utilities in the country -  delivering some of the nation’s cleanest energy to 15 million people in northern  and central California. In addition to providing clean, reliable power, we seek  to be a leading corporate citizen in the diverse communities we serve. Since our  founding more than 100 years ago we have made charitable grants, growing to  donate $18.3 million in 2007. We also empower our workforce to support their  communities. Last year, Pacific Gas & Electric Company employees and retirees volunteered more than  107,000 hours and personally donated nearly $4 million to non-profit  organizations through our Campaign for the Community.

Pacific Gas & Electric Company has been a long and proud supporter of the Governor and First Lady's  Women's Conference. Each year, the Women’s Conference reaches more women –  inspiring and empowering them both at the Conference and in their communities.  Pacific Gas & Electric Company is pleased to continue working with the Women’s Conference as it grows  better and stronger each year.

In 2008, Pacific Gas & Electric Company will provide almost $18.7 million in charitable funding, more  than half of which will be for Environmental and Energy Sustainability projects  and 75% for projects in underserved communities. Through our “We Can Do This”  program, we are providing our customers with practical information, resources,  and programs to reduce their energy usage, their carbon footprint and our  collective impact on the earth. Together with the Women’s Conference and the  efforts of our 20,000 employees, we will continue to improve the lives of  Californians.
