Women want permission to put themselves back on their lists. In a world where we are the caretakers and nurturers of children, spouses, ailing parents, grandchildren and virtually everyone but ourselves, we’ve lost sight of the all-important notion of taking care of ourselves.
In the variety of roles that women play, they want to know how to make time to feed their families so that they will thrive. They want their families to be healthy, productive, full of energy, and full of life. The alternative – overweight and inactive children and adults, and the illness that comes with poor health and spirits -- is too painful. Women often blame themselves for such outcomes.
For once, if women were given the encouragement and support to love and care for themselves without the judgment that they fear will come with it – they might be able to prioritize those aspects most important to them. Then the world itself might be a better place.
