Loosening Cannabis Restrictions In The US

42% of all US states have legalized the use of recreational marijuana with 21 states now allowing recreational cannabis use for adults over the age of 21. 37 states only allow the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes, not recreational ones. 11 of these states permit CBD oils and small quantities of THC. There are only 2 states left in the US that don’t approve of CBD or marijuana usage at all. With increasing legalization of marijuana use, many Americans are warming up to the idea of legal cannabis. Nearly 60% support medical and recreational use of marijuana, while 30% support medical uses only, with only 10% not supporting legalization at all.

With the majority of Americans in favor of the use of marijuana for recreational use on the rise, many states are introducing new legislation and changing their policies to further legalize marijuana. 7 additional states are predicted to approve recreational marijuana by 2030 alongside the time between medical and recreational approval shortening. California took over 20 years to allow recreational marijuana after legalizing medical marijuana but some states have taken as little as 4 years to allow both medical and recreational use.
