Bully breeds are one of the most diverse categorizations of dogs. It is one of the 50+ breeds of terrier type dogs, and includes some of the most recognizable names in the dog world. For example, French bulldogs were the most registered dog within the US in 2022 according to the American Kennel Club (AKC), nudging out Labrador Retrievers from the top spot that they’ve held for 31 years. Seven out of the top 20 spots for registered dogs were all bully breeds as well, including dogs like the bulldog, boxer, and Great Dane.
Bully breeds are especially loved for their kind temperament. They are ranked highly on the ATTS Temperament Test- the American bully even scored a perfect 100%. The bull terriers and dogo argentino also scored highly, with a 90.9% score, followed by the cane corso with an 88.7%. So many dog owners have grown to appreciate the bully breed that breeders are registering new kinds of bullies all over the world. For example, the dogo argentino was registered in Argentina in 2020, and the cane corso was registered in 2010. This demand is not looking to fall anytime soon due to the adorable looks and even more adorable personality of these dogs.
