How To Become A Successful Latina Entrepreneur In The USA

0

Know Who You’re Serving
First, know your community. As a Latina, you likely speak English as a first language, though you are of Hispanic heritage. A “Hispanic” business owner may have grown up speaking Spanish, whereas a “Latino” or “Latina” is going to be the son or daughter of that individual. The Latinas were born into America, so they have both heritage aspects defining them.

What this means is that there are communities in America where Spanish is spoken more prominently than English. Accordingly, small businesses operated in such communities should cater to the clients they serve. If you’re in, say, Santa Ana, California, then you may run a bar, salon, or retail outlet where there isn’t an English word anywhere.

Similarly, if you were running the same business in Kansas, you would want to have English be at least 50% of the signage, pricing, and other details defining your shop. So your first step in running a successful business as a Latina is knowing who you’re catering to. Following, we’ll cover a few more steps to help get you started.

Utilizing Available Resources
Next, beyond knowing the people you’re serving with your small business, you want to utilize available resources as best you can. A great example might be the information on becoming a successful Latina entrepreneur available through the hyperlink. Another great resource to help you here may be your local Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber of Commerce in a given community will have information pertaining to where new retail outlets and subdivisions are being built. Additionally, you can determine by deduction where things are going well in the local community, and where there are difficulties.

For example, retail outlets in declining areas of town may not have many future plans available through the Chamber of Commerce. That’s a sign a community may be in decline. Certainly, you want to do the footwork yourself—never buy a property or rent an outlet you haven’t seen physically.

That said, sometimes communities in decline represent a golden business opportunity for the sort of products or services you provide. Not a lot of Latinas run liquor stores, some do. Salons and barbers are needed in declining communities just as in affluent ones; if your business model can cater to such clientele, this route may prove successful.

Understanding Your Budget
In order to make the best choices, you need to carefully design a budget that allows you to succeed. The difficulty here is, until your operation gets underway, certain budgetary items will not be available to calculate. So to a certain extent, you’ve got to just dive in and see where you’re at. However, you can prepare in advance.

Think of taxes, rent, utilities, tools like computers or hair clippers, maintenance, products, gasoline, and employees as overhead. Figure out what your monthly overhead costs will be, and give yourself a thick margin for error. If you come up with a number like $10,500 a month in operating expenses, call it $12k, and design profit margins to exceed that number.

If you’ve got a $12k monthly overhead cost including all incidentals, taxes, and even hidden costs like employee insurance as mandated locally depending on your situation, then you want to make at minimum $4k over that $12k figure. That is, if you want to keep a family, property, and a comfortable standard of living.

If you’re pulling in $16k a month and spending $12k of it in overhead, you’re netting $4k; or $48k a year. That’s a living for a midwest small business. It won’t work in New York City or L.A., where middle-class costs of living are $200k in N.Y.C. and $120k in L.A., on average. That is to say: $100k and $200k in the cities has the buying power $48k does in the midwest.

Maximizing Profit Potential
Using available resources, designing an effective budget, and understanding those who you’re serving will go a long way to helping you design and manage a successful business as a Latina. Those tips go for any small business. As a Latina, the sorts of business you may excel at will be what differs most.

So consider what you’re good at, what you can afford, where you’re at, and whether or not you can afford to tread water while you get the balance right over the next ten years. Whether you’re a Latino or a Latina doesn’t matter as much as your willingness to work hard, and your preparation in advance.

Deep Cleaning Checklist Before the Holidays

0

With the holidays coming up, you want to make sure your house is not only prepared for decorations, but also the guests. Thinking about what you can do to make your home nicer and more presentable can be exciting if done piece by piece. And working on deep cleaning your home in time for the holidays right now will give you the peace of mind you need to focus on your other tasks.

There are factors and techniques to consider in making sure you hit all the main points you need if tight on time. So here are a few places to hit in order to leave it looking as fresh and clean as possible.

The Entryway

The entryway of the home is important to get right because you want to make a good first impression for those visiting the home. This is why you have to work out what you can do to get the basics right as much as possible, and this is something to consider moving forward.

There are a lot of things that you can do when it comes to cleaning and tidying the entryway; sweeping out the leaves or vacuuming, shaking out your mat, mopping the dust and dirt, and clearing clutter is how you’re going to leave it feeling fresh.

Bathrooms

The bathroom is one of the most important parts of the home, and you want to make sure you’re doing what you can to keep it clean and easily presentable if guests were to drop by. This means ensuring you clean the essentials, such the toilet, shower/bath and sink on a fairly regular basis to make sure they are clean, sanitized, and stocked.

Kitchen

It’s essential that you deep clean the kitchen on a regular basis because what’s a holiday without food? This is where the holiday spirit begins as is prepared and cooked, and why good kitchen hygiene is vital during the holiday season.

A deep clean over the course of a day or afternoon isideal, which allows you to do the minimum to maintain it with quicker cleans after each use. It’s helpful to have all the surfaces, dishes, and utensils clean before you make any food in the kitchen. You also want to make sure you empty the fridge to clean out all the drawers and shelves, and restock it again to prep for the new food and leftovers.

Windows

The windows are an important part of the home and a feature best used to display your decorations. Cleaning the windows once per week with a glass cleaner is something that can keep them looking smart. Try to make sure you keep the door frames and the window drapes clean and sanitized as well, and don’t forget the lock and door handle!

The outside of the windows are a little bit more tricky to keep clean, and this is typically due to accessibility. So, it might be worth it coming up with a clever solution, or, if worst comes to worst, hiring professional window cleaning experts who are able to make the most of this for you right now.

Keeping your house as clean, tidy, and presentable as possible is one of the best things you can do, and this is something that is essential for allowing you to make your home look better and ensure you take pride in it as much as possible right now.

You want to make your home look and feel as great as you can. The best way of doing this involves coming up with a deep cleaning checklist that is going to help you make the most of this right now. And if you find you just don’t have time to in between your busy schedule, hire a reliable house cleaning service to manage routine, or one-time cleaning.

Why Your Company Needs a Digital Marketing Strategy

0

Given the widespread use of technology around the world, it is now possible for businesses to market their products and services, regardless of a potential customer’s location on the planet. Indeed, if you work in a marketing department, or even if you are a small business owner, you should be aware of the various technological changes that have occurred in the advertising industry over the last few decades. In addition, you should also be aware that marketers use a combination of traditional and digital channels to communicate a marketing message to a particular demographic group of customers. However, if you are unaware about the benefits of a digital marketing strategy, then you should be aware to consult an online business directory as you can identify a number of agencies that can assist you throughout the process of creating an online marketing campaign for your products and services.

1.            Cost-effective solution

One of the main reasons that your company should think about implementing a digital marketing strategy is that it can provide you with a cost-effective advertising solution. Indeed, digital marketing can help you to save a considerable amount of money over time, especially when compared to more traditional types of marketing channels. In addition, you should also be aware that small businesses will be able to compete with big players in any market as a result of using a combination of digital marketing strategies. If you are looking for information about how a digital marketing strategy can benefit your business, you should think about contacting Move Ahead Media as soon as possible.

2.            Measure your results

It is also important to understand that examining the data created through the use of traditional advertising channels can sometimes be complicated or even impossible. However, digital marketing provides management with a measurable means of tracking the results of a particular advertising campaign. As a result, you should be aware that your business could grow as a result of creating pertinent sales information about the results of a particular marketing campaign. It is also imperative to understand that this particular tool can give management an idea about how much traffic is driven to a website from a particular social media channel or from a search engine.

3.            Target specific customers

Finally, you should be aware that digital marketing can target a specific demographic group of potential or existing customers. Indeed, if you are looking to implement an effective marketing strategy, you need to reach a target group of customers that can buy your products online. This is especially pertinent when compared to more traditional types of marketing which can include television and radio. In addition, these technologies make it hard to target a specific demographic group which can much easier using modern technologies. You should also be aware that digital marketing can be used regardless of the customer’s location on the planet. As a result, you can create a two-way communication channel with a variety of potential or existing customers, regardless of where they live.

  • Cost-effective
  • Measurable results
  • Target a group of customers

Therefore, in conclusion, you should be aware that your company needs a digital marketing strategy as it can provide you with a cost-effective advertising solution that is both measurable and specific.

5 Tips For College Students To Excel In Online Classes

0

If you’ve found yourself struggling or caught off guard a little by the recent changes in education caused by the CoronaVirus, you’re not alone. Many students worldwide have found this transition from in-person education to online learning to be difficult. There are a variety of reasons as to why this is more complicated in general but more so for a percentage of individuals, but today we’ll talk in general as to how you can find more success in online classes.

1.      Be present.

Many classes are no longer taking roll because the students are no longer required to show up. If you’ve found recently that you don’t have the motivation to call into your classes, start now to be present mentally and physically (over video). You should have the same attitude as you did when you were required to show up in person. It’s easy to be distracted looking up things like best dpi for fps games, but it’s important to to stay focused. Also, if you’re operating over video conferences or similar conference applications, make sure to have your camera on. This will help you stay more attentive and focused, knowing that your fellow classmates can see you.

2.      Get ready in the morning.

Much of the population, especially the younger generation that’s currently studying, have ceased their morning routine. Because getting ready for the day and getting ready to go out are no longer required, it’s easy to sleep until your class starts and put a hat on right before you’re required to join the video conference. Instead you should get ready for the day like you would any other and eat a good breakfast. This will help you wake up and function better by the time you’re required to learn.

3.      Get in a good sleep schedule.

This doesn’t only mean getting 8+ hours of sleep a night, but also that you should be going to bed before midnight. The best schedule, depending on responsibilities and obligations is either 10pm-6am or 9pm-5am. When these schedules are held regularly your body clock will know when it’s time to sleep, and when it’s time to perform. Not only will you see improvements in your schooling, but you’ll also find that you sleep better.

4.      Find a consistent place to study.

This should not be in bed or any place where you’re laying prone. You should be in an upright position with something in front of you that you can write on. This can be either a desk, table, counter, or anything that fulfills that requirement. However, you should try to make it constant. Classes and learning should take place in the same position and surroundings. It will also be easier to focus if that space is clean. Following these tips can greatly increase productivity.

5.      Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Regardless of if it’s your teacher, tutor, family, or friends, this experience is a learning curve for everyone. Our culture has become “if you can’t figure it out you are somehow not as qualified as others. We need a change in our culture for the mutual benefit of all. If something’s not making sense for you, find someone who’s willing to help you. You’re not required to do this on your own. These people want you to succeed as well.

Using Social Media while Driving is not only Distracting, it’s Reckless

0

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) defines distracted driving as anything that takes a driver’s attention away from the road. The CDC states that there are three main types of distracted driving.

  • Visual: Taking eyes off the road
  • Manual: Taking hands off the steering wheel
  • Cognitive: Taking mind off driving

This means talking on the phone, texting, eating, changing the music, or being on the phone while driving is considered distracted driving. Today, drivers are faced with more distractions than ever. Thanks to cellular data giving phones internet capabilities when not connected to WiFi, drivers can do a lot more than just texting and driving. Texting and driving used to be considered the most dangerous thing a driver could do while on the road, but now social media is taking texting’s place.

The New “Texting and Driving”

The use of social media is very prominent in many people’s lives, especially with younger and newer drivers. Using social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter while driving can be very dangerous for the driver, and all others on the road. However, this seems to be the newest trend; people are texting and driving less, but using their smartphone to browse social media more. Drivers might see an Instagram notification populate on their phone, and even glancing down quickly to see that could be disastrous.

Social Media and Driving

Because social media is now so heavily integrated into young peoples’ livelihoods, one might argue that social media poses an even greater threat to attentive driving than do other common distractions on the road. The age to get a license is 16, and these younger drivers use social media platforms to interact with their friends. A new driver might post on Twitter complaining about traffic, and while they might think their actions are harmless it could affect everyone around them.

Additionally, scrolling through social media is not a quick task. When compared to texting, social media is a much more time consuming activity, meaning that the driver is going to be looking away from the road much longer and more frequently.

Distracting Driving Impacts All Drivers

On average, 9 people are killed and more than 1,000 people are injured as a result of distracted driving every day. When a driver is not focused, the chance of a crash increases. Distracted drivers also affect everyone — it is not just the distracted driver at risk. Not fully paying attention while driving puts all other surrounding individuals in danger.

“Using social media while driving can be three times more dangerous than drinking and driving. According to research conducted by the Transport Research Laboratory and the Institute of Advanced Motorist, the reaction time of a driver is slowed by 38% while using their smartphone, as opposed to the 12% of someone who has been drinking” (Source: TexasArriveAlive.com).

The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute conducted a study regarding distracted driving and found that, on average, when a driver checks their phone, their eyes are taken off the road for 4.6 seconds. While 4.6 seconds does not sound like a long amount of time, if a driver is going 55mph, 4.6 seconds of driving is the equivalent of driving the length of a football field. Now, if that driver is browsing social media, they are going to be looking at their phone for much longer than 4.6 seconds. Drivers who are distracted by social media or otherwise are a danger to themselves, other drivers, and pedestrians.

Those at Risk for Engaging in Distracted Driving

People under the age of 20 have the largest proportion of fatal crashes that are related to distracted driving. Distracted driving accounted for 9% of all teen motor vehicle crash deaths in 2017. Younger drivers are already inexperienced and by bringing in outside distractions such as cellphones, they are more likely to be more distracted.

How to Prevent Distracted Driving

While social media can be the biggest distraction, there are ways to prevent becoming distracted. The easiest way to prevent using social media while driving is to put the phone in the backseat or in a purse, or even turn it off. While driving, the driver should only be focused on the road. Deliberately removing the easy accessibility of the phone will likely prevent and deter distracted driving.

On the other hand, there is always the possibility of injury due to the negligence and recklessness of another distracted driver nearby. If you find yourself in one of these instances, be sure to call an experienced attorney to discuss options and how to proceed.

Happiest Place on Earth Denies Workers’ Compensation

0

Reedy Creek’s paramedics and firefighters that represent Florida’s Walt Disney World theme park and resorts are being denied workers’ compensation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. There have been at least three paramedics who have self quarantined when they tested positive. After their 14 day isolation, they were denied workers’ compensation.

On Monday, June 29, the three paramedics worked a shift where a patient refused to wear a mask. Four days later, all three of the paramedics tested positive for COVID-19. However, Reedy Creek Officials stated there were no patients that tested positive within the dates of June 23 and July 3.

Investigation at The Reedy Creek Improvement District

Reedy Creek Improvement District officials conducted an investigation and found that the paramedics began showing symptoms during the time when they did not come into contact with any COVID-19 positive patients. According to the officials, this examination proves that these first responders did not contract COVID-19 at on the job. In addition to the investigation, Reedy Creek’s communications manager claimed that the Disney Parks and Resorts were closed while the medics tested positive.

Michael Grant, one of the paramedics that tested positive, believes that he contracted the virus while at work despite what Reedy Creek claimed in their statement. He lost his taste and smell quickly and still has yet to get it back. According to Click Orlando, Grant said: “I have a 3-year-old and a 7-year-old and obviously they were my biggest concern.” He then stated, “We’re on the front lines dealing with COVID every day…For us not being taken care of is a slap in the face.”

Grant, along with several other first responders, believe the department’s policy is completely unfair due to both the lack of protection from COVID-19 exposure and the denial of rightful workers compensation benefits.

First Responder’s Solution

The Reedy Creek Fire Department employees are striving to address this flawed workers’ compensation issue. They are attempting to change the department policies so employees are not forced to use their own personal sick leave if they have tested positive for COVID-19. Their goal is to receive paid administrative leave while quarantining due to exposure. According to Reedy Creek department officials, it is policy for first responders to use sick leave and/or vacation time even if they test positive for or are exposed to COVID-19. The Reedy Creek department operates very differently than other departments’ policies. First responders in Orlando are granted with an excused absence with pay. Through the CARES Act funding, Orange County first responders have up to 80 hours of “COVID leave time”, and are still eligible for worker’s compensation after. According to The Reedy Creek Department Officials, there has been a significant decrease, nearly a 90% drop, in the amount of calls first responders would receive since the Disney parks are now closed. Therefore, the chances of being exposed to COVID-19 is not the same for Reedy Creek firefighters as it is in Orlando and Orange County.

0

There are two ways that you can look at the benefits of being a member of a club or organisation. You can look at it from a business point of view, and you can look at it from a social point of view. The best weight training routine for women

0

I realize this seems like a sexist article, but I am going to be dealing with generalities and what most women I talk to seem to care most about in their training.  Obviously, there are women that are incredible in all areas of sports and love all kinds of workouts and body types.  This article is going to focus on the typical women that ask me for help with their weight training routines.  These are usually women that care about having a nice firm butt and legs.  They want to be fit and are not looking to be bulky or super strong.  So if that sounds like you, then this will be be some good information.  If not, then you probably already know exactly what you are doing.
The truth is, the basic principles for getting in shape are pretty much exactly the same for women as they are for men.

Most differences in workouts between men and women are due to body shape preferences.  There are physiological differences between men and women, but the basic principles apply to both men and women.

The basic concept for building muscles is to force your muscles to work harder and harder over time.  This is done through increasing the weight or the amount of repetitions with the same weight.

The main difference between men and women workouts is that women typically want a fuller, perkier butt and shapely legs and men typically want bigger arms, shoulders and pecs.  The truth is, women’s goals take much more effort.  Upper body workouts are easy compared to leg day.  We’ve all seen the memes about how you should never skip leg day.  Well, every gym in the world is full of dudes that love to skip leg day.  The main reason is because leg day is hard!  Working your legs is the best way to achieve overall fitness and boost your metabolism.  Leg day uses much bigger and stronger muscles.  So it burns more calories during the workout and helps you continue to burn more calories throughout the rest of the day!

I am writing this article as if I were telling my wife exactly what to do.  Obviously, I never get to tell her anything, so this article is totally hypothetical.  🙂  Truth is, Jen is very independent, but she does a great job of listening and doing things in a way that she feels most comfortable and motivated.  She likes to do yoga a lot.  So she mixes in cardio and yoga into her week as well.  Whatever she’s doing, it’s working, because she’s smoking hot!The most important thing is to make sure you do things you know you can be consistent with.  That is the key to long term results.

My recommendation is what’s called an upper body/lower body split.  So you can probably guess that this divides your workouts into one that focuses on the lower body and another that focuses on the upper body.

I reccomend doing 4 weight workouts per week.  So two lower body days and two upper body days.  What seems to work best for most women is lower body day on Monday and Thursday and upper body days on Tuesday and Friday.

Obviously this means you focus on all the muscles of your lower body (including your quads, hamstrings, glutes, lower back and calves) on your lower body days.  Then on upper body days, you’ll train all of the muscles of your upper body (including your chest, back, shoulders, and arms)

I recommend starting each week with lower body day.  It’s harder and it’s nice to hit a hard workout after a day or two of rest and recovery.  Start with the hardest exercises first.  I recommend Squats or deadlifts to begin each leg day.  On upper body day I recomend seated cable rows or lat pull downs.

This is exactly what I would recomend:

Monday: Lower Body

-Start with a 10 minute warm up.  I recommend a brisk walk on a treadmill set at 10 degree incline.

-Squats (4 sets of 12 to 20 repetitions. Final set should be as difficult as you can make it, while still being able to do close to 12 reps)

-Deadlifts  (4 sets of 12 to 20 repetitions. Final set should be as difficult as you can make it, while still being able to do close to 12 reps)

-Lunges  (4 sets of 12 to 20 repetitions. Final set should be as difficult as you can make it, while still being able to do close to 12 reps)

-Box Jumps, or box step ups (4 sets of 12 to 20 repetitions, this would be with each leg on steps ups. Final set should be as difficult as you can make it, while still being able to do close to 12 reps)

-Stretch and go home and drink a protein shake for best results!

Tuesday: Upper Body

-Start with a 10 minute warm up.  I recommend a brisk walk on a treadmill set at 10 degree incline.

-Seated Cable Rows (4 sets of 12 to 20 repetitions. Final set should be as difficult as you can make it, while still being able to do close to 12 reps)

-Lat Pull Downs (4 sets of 12 to 20 repetitions. Final set should be as difficult as you can make it, while still being able to do close to 12 reps)

-Incline Dumbbell Press (4 sets of 12 to 20 repetitions. Final set should be as difficult as you can make it, while still being able to do close to 12 reps)

-Seated dumbbell Shoulder Press (4 sets of 12 to 20 repetitions. Final set should be as difficult as you can make it, while still being able to do close to 12 reps)

-I recommend 5 to 10 minutes of crunches and planks on upper body day.

-Stretch and go home and drink a protein shake for best results!

Saturday: Cardio

Sunday: Rest

This would be a great week of weight training.  I would recommend doing cardio for about an hour on 2 of your rest days.  Yoga, pilates, kickboxing or whatever you like is a great addition on the days you aren’t lifting.  I like these lifts for women.  There are lots of other great lifts.  Leg day, you might substitute hip sled, hack squat, front squat, goblet squat, glute bridge, sumo squat and curtsy lunge.  Upper body you could mix in overhead barbell press, bent over rows, dumbbell flys, upright rows or curls.

The key to getting lean and mean is to get to the gym and push yourself.  The more you push yourself, the faster you’ll see results!

As always, have fun, kick some butt and don’t forget to take your Nanohydr8 before your workout!

Can I Get Social Security Disability Benefits?

0

Today’s governments and societies implement many programs to help their citizens live a happy, comfortable, and fulfilling life. This is especially true when it comes down to offering help to those unable to provide for themselves because of disabilities.

Social Security Disability benefits are essential for those individuals, and they play a major role in allowing those who need it the most to count on a regular income.

However, qualifying for and obtaining Social Security Disability benefits can be an overwhelming process without the necessary help. Below are helpful resources that can help you get started with your application.

Overview

As a disability can heavily impact an individual or a family’s finances, Social Security Disability Benefits supply the necessary financial help to those who can’t provide for themselves.

There are two programs: Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). These programs have different eligibility requirements. SSDI is for those who have been recently working and paying Social Security taxes. SSI is for those with limited income and ability to work.

The recipient of benefits will perceive a salary-like income each month, with money partly deriving from the federal government and partly supplied by the state.

While these monthly payments can truly improve a person’s quality of life with a disability, it can be tricky to obtain these benefits. Indeed, the process to go through can be lengthy and challenging, and many applicants are denied their benefits at first.

The strict guidelines and requirements introduced by the Social Security Administration (SSA) limit the number of people who can qualify for such benefits and even reduce those receiving them.

Who Can Benefit?

Claimants have to respect precise requirements to qualify for benefits. Here is what you need to know:

Age. The SSI program helps citizens who are 65 or over or those who are disabled. SSDI is for those under age 65.

Ability to Work. Both SSDI and SSI support those who are unable to work due to disability outside their control.

Resources. For SSI benefits, your properties and possessions will be analyzed to ensure they fall beneath a certain value.

Medical Condition. For both programs, you only qualify if you have a serious medical condition that will last at least one year or likely cause death.

While these rules and regulations might seem particularly strict at first, they are designed to regulate the way this help is handed out to citizens. Indeed, this selection allows the SSA to only provide this service to those who truly need it while cutting out those who are trying to take advantage of it.

Receiving Benefits

If you are granted disability benefits, you will be able to receive monthly payments from the government. However, the amount you can expect each month might vary slightly.

For example, In 2019 in California, the maximum that an individual could receive for SSI per month was $900. In 2020, this value has changed. A married couple can now receive about $1175 per month and an individual applicant about $783.

How Do I Apply?

Applying for SSI is a straightforward process, and you can complete the initial application by yourself by following the detailed instructions on the SSA website. It is also possible to apply over the phone or in person at a local SSA office.

After the initial application, the local Social Security Office will get in touch and explain all about the next steps you will have to go through. If you are denied the benefits after your application’s assessment, you can still appeal through a reconsideration request.

When going through an SSI initial application or appeal, a social security attorney will help you speed up the process, navigate the different stages, and suggest you the best next move. Applying for benefits or an appeal can be a complicated process, but an experienced attorney can help you through it.
